Welcome to Grace Notes Piano Studio
Daniel Greenidge
The teaching philosophy of Grace Notes Piano Studio is based upon the French school of technique, which seeks to minimize the pianist’s tension by effective use of the wrist and shoulder muscles. Not only does this enable the pianist to perform technical passages with comparatively little difficulty, it also encourages a warm tone at all volumes which is difficult to achieve with purely finger-based technique.
In the summer of 2011, I organized and performed in three benefit concerts for local charities. In the past three years, I have both won and placed in local, state wide, and regional competitions, of which two allowed me to qualify for college scholarships. Other performances include participation in a youth orchestra (celeste), a Baroque music festival (harpischord), and a live accompanist for a theatrical production. I also have experience collaborating with voice and violin students, and consider myself blessed to be a part of two music ministries.
My musical training started when I was three years old at a European school of music, followed by private tutoring for over ten years. As a high-school student, I have completed an advanced placement Music Theory course (equivalent to a first year university course), and in the nation-wide standardized exam received the highest score possible, which, according to the College Board rendered me “extremely well qualified” in melody, harmony, texture, rhythm, musical analysis, elementary composition, history and style, listening skills, sight-singing, keyboard harmony, and musical notation.
Besides pursuing my musical interests, I also enjoy mountaineering, astronomy, and volunteering—most recently at Little Shop of Physics (CSU) and the Amy L. Prieto Research Group (also located at CSU).
